Name: Kiriku
Race: Al Bhed
Hometown: Calm Lands
Age: 19
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 112lbs
Appearance: Like most Al Bhed, Kiriku has the trademark blonde hair and green eyes. Her eyes are a kind of forest green, and her hair a more strawberry blonde than sheer blonde. Her hair is shoulder length, and she tends to have it spiked or at least quiffed towards the bottom. She has a few freckles on her face and arms, and a few scars from where she's hurt herself from being clumsy.
Her clothing generally consists of a short orange shirt which ends above her midriff, with a belt wrapped around it at the bottom hem. She wears green shorts and sturdy green boots to walk around in. These are covered with dark green boot covers that reach up to her thigh. These are decorated with white swirl patterns. She tends to wear a red bandanna around her neck, which she sometimes uses for practical reasons when working on Machina so she doesn't inhale dust.
She wears some armour. A large gauntlet on her right hand which reaches to her elbow, and a smaller one on her left hand, which is only wrist height. She also wears some shoulder armour on her left shoulder, and carries a pouch with her at all times which contains the necessaries: potions, gil and grenades.
Battle: Kiriku isn't especially strong in battle. She's quick and agile, so has high evasion and a high attack ratio, but her attacks never really do much damage. She's much better to steal gil or items or to use to heal members of the party with items. Her preferred weapon of choice is a Tantō, a short sword concealed inside a scabbard which looks like a fan.
Personality: Kiriku is generally quite upbeat. Not in a hyperactive sense, she's just generally optimistic, and tries to look at things in a glass half-full kind of way. She does her best to keep the people around her upbeat too, but knows when she's outstayed her welcome. She doesn't force her good mood on others. Only shares it with people who want it. She can be extremely stubborn at times and hard headed. When she thinks she's right, there is nothing come Hell or high water, that will make her think she is wrong, unless someone literally draws out just how wrong she is in front of her; and then she tends to flip over her faux pas with a flippant comment and moves on.
She's somewhat ditzy when in a new environment. Her first instinct is to explore and do the work later. This gets her into trouble with other people and also with anyone she works for/with. Her attention span is very short. She shows excellent attention to detail when she's doing something like fixing machina or some such. If someone asks her to recall something she can recall the place, time and what was going on almost perfectly, even recalling the most random of details.
She’s a quick talker. Good at bargaining and bartering. She’s been blessed with the gift of the gab. Its often said she could talk the birds down from the sky given half a chance. Unfortunately, this gift of hers can sometimes be a hindrance. She can talk too much, and not quite know when her questions and inane chat is annoying anyone else… not that she care especially.
Overall, Kiriku’s generally interested in the new and unusual. New airship models, new machina, even ancient machina. If its mechanic it’ll grab her interest.
Biography: Born in the Calm Lands, Kiriku’s parents were Al Bhed who had been turned away from Bevelle when seeking refuge. Kiriku’s mother had been pregnant at the time, so settling, however briefly, in the Calm Lands was the only option. Kiriku was born as her parents made their way to Reniem Temple in the East. Soon after Kiriku’s birth, her father was able to set up a basic item shop near the temple, business was constantly steady, but not overwhelming. Considering the uneasy start in life, and the circumstances of her birth, Kiriku was raised rather well, given plenty of good opportunities and never left to go hungry or feel unloved. Her mother practically doted on her, and always let Kiriku have her way, regardless - which is where Kiriku’s stubbornness comes from.
Living in the Calm Lands was all well at good for the time being for Kiriku. Occasionally she would accompany her father to a different place and be able to look around. He would always let her tinker with their old airship, and, like all good Al Bhed, she picked up techniques and know-how extremely quickly. Life though, however good, became rather dull and mundane after living the same thing day-in and day-out for years. Life was never especially exciting, and while this may have been fine for her parents, for Kiriku it wasn’t.
She explained her situation to her parents who, though uneasy, were happy for her to go off and spread her wings somewhat, to get a feel of Spira, and the opportunity to experience it for herself. Kiriku built herself a small 1-man aircraft and left, heading for the busiest city, Luca. When she arrived she offered her services as a machina expert to anyone and everyone, but due to her lack of credentials, no one was willing to give her a chance. Somewhat put out but this, Kiriku found herself in the slums of Luca, making a living from doing menial work on basic machina. It wasn’t what Kiriku had hoped or wanted, but it was a start.
