The Start of Kat and Asuma Empty
PostSubject: The Start of Kat and Asuma   The Start of Kat and Asuma EmptyTue Jun 17, 2008 10:19 pm

The calm, blue waters of Besaids beach silently crashed onto the shore, going in and out, in and out, making the sand by the water a dark brown. The sky was a clear blue, with very few clouds. Seagulls could be heard squawking in the distance, while fish could be seen through the transparent waters of the ocean. On the calm shores of Besaid Island few people stirred, as the sun was beginning to set. On the town's wharf, where ships would usually be seen docking in and out, there were few; only a few ships scattered in one place here and there. No ships could be seen on the horizon, as the sun slowly was swept into the sea. Only one man stayed on the beach. He was tall, a man of over six feet. He was well built, despite the fact that old age showed in his numerous gray hairs on top of his short brown hair. The man's eyes stared out to the setting sun. He was standing, alone, staring. As the calm waters of the sea washed up in front of him, he remembered memories long past.

It was Back in Bevelle, a few years before. The man standing on the beach was a few years younger, seeming to be in his thirties; having a few gray hairs in his hair. He was overlooking one of the highest points of Bevelle, looking out to the city. As he was looking out, he turned around, seeming to hear someone. A woman, who seemed to be around eighteen, was walking over to him, smiling happily. In turn, the man smiled, walking over to her. He grabbed her in a hug, and she seemed to laugh a little. As they were doing this, another woman appeared. She seemed to be in her early thirties, still beautiful; she showed almost no aging. Her long brown hair flowed behind her, and her light blue eyes sparkled as she saw the two. She was dressed in all white, a sign of a white mage. She put her hand on the young girls shoulder, and the young girl turned around. She smiled, and took her hand. The man let the young woman and older woman start to walk off, turning around to look at the overpass again. As he did, however, he turned stark white. A large mass of something seemed to crash against the far side of Bevelle, and then seemed to give off large chunks, that stuck to whatever part of the city it hit. He turned around, and saw the two women running towards him. He seemed to yell something. It was easy to tell what. "SIN!" is what he ahd been yelling. Bevelle was under attack. The young girl reached down on the ground, and pulled up a short rod, but the older woman put her hand on it. As the younger girl looked up at her, the woman shook her head, and the younger woman's head dropped. The older woman walked over to the man, and higged him, as they held each other for a while. They were stopped as they looked over the overpass again. Sin had yet again rammed Bevelle, this time leaving a large hole in the walls of Bevelle. Sinspawn were going everywhere. The woman next to the man seemed to tell something to him, and he nodded. He took the younger girl up in his arms, and ran from that spot, going down to Bevelle's harbor on the far side; opposite of where the attacks were at. He boarded a ship, to wherever, and as they were leaving, he turned.

"Asuma....." A lone voice snapped him out of his memories. It sounded as if a young woman were calling, and the man, Asuma, turned, grabbing onto the spear strapped to his back. His faced turned to a scowl, and he looked for the source of the voice. "....Asuma....." Again the voice of the young woman was heard, and Asuma kept looking around. When he saw no one, his grip on his naginata only tightened. He looked around once more, and turned around, heading back to the path that would lead him to his home. He walked the path quickly, and took a shortcut through trees, not caring if he encountered a lone fiend or not. As he made it through the trees, his small village came into sight. He kept walking, and looked behind him. The sun was starting to rise. Had he really been out there that long? He paid no thought to it, and turned around again, heading for the village. "Kat..." was all he said. He walked to his house, and then turned once again, making his way to a smaller hut. He stared at it for a second, and closed his eyes. "...Kat..." He shook his head, and turned, going into his own hut.

The Start of Kat and Asuma Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Start of Kat and Asuma   The Start of Kat and Asuma EmptyThu Jun 19, 2008 12:26 pm

Kat was sitting in the park reading a book about magic like always when she didn't wanted to think about her mother. She died two years ago, but Kat couldn't get over it. Of course she wouldn't show her pain to others, especially to her father that she didn't wanted to make more sad. The truth is that since that time he got gray hair that weren't vicible when her mother still lived. She took her hair from her face and leaned against the trees she was sitting under. Tears were falling from her eyes but she didn't care, she knew no one would see her, it was late and sun was setting, no one wanted to be out at this time. Eeverybody was scared of being out in darkness with monsters being around. She closed the book and whiped her tears away. It was time to go back.

When she entered her hut she smiled. The room was full of fresh flowers Kat liked to cut from her small garden everyday. She loved flowers and she wanted to have a lot of them in her house. She was livingf by herself so her hut was small, just 2 bedrooms a kitchen and a bathroom. She didn't wanted a bigger one though, it would feel even more lonely.

I wonder what father is doing

She said to herself not liking the silence of the hut. She went out again and walked to the hut where her father lives. She knocked the door and was waiting for him to open since she didn't wanted to go inside without him telling her that she can.

Father, it's me Kat.

Erk walked down the dirt paths wandering through the inland hills of the island. The tail of his cloak swished through the dirt around his feet, pulling tiny plumes of dust up in his wake. His shadow stretched forth before him in the long light of sunset, leaping and falling over the bumps and bends in the serpent-like path through the hillocks he followed.

As he walked, the dusk obscured him until he was little more than a shadow himself gliding across the land, the twilight settling about him like a mantle. He moved with thoughtless purpose down the hidden paths, and soon he would arrive at his destination.

As Asuma walked back to his hut, he couldn't get the vision of the past out of his mind. Every night, he would have the same dream of the past. And in every single one, it would end just as he found the boat. Every time he would wake up in a cold sweat. And then a picture of her would flash through his mind; his wife. As he thought to himself, he didn't even notice Kat, who was standing right at the front of his hut. He bumped into her, and stopped, snapping out of his trance. He caught her, and picked her up. "Kat...What are you doing out here so late?

She was usually in her hut by this time, sleeping. What had made her stay out this late?

Kat catched her father's shirt trying stand still.

"Nice welcome dad, shouldn't you be more carefull?"

She smiled looking at him carefully. She knew he was thinking about her mother once again, that was the reason she came anyway, she wanted to make him think about something else just for few minutes. Kat didn't wanted him to know her true purpose of going there so she just said:

"I just missed you dad and wanted to know if you would like to go with me tomorrow to the park. I would like to show you few spells I've mastered."

Asuma looked down at Kat. He could tell she was lying to him. He had always known when she was. But, he kept it to himself. "Of course, Kat. I've been wanting to see what you've learned on your own anyway." He smiled a little. It was only around Kat, that he would ever smile. Ever since Kat's mother had died, it was like he had been receding into himself, only talking to Kat. But, he was slowly regaining himself.

He let go of her, and looked out to the sunrise. He looked back at Kat. "You should go back to your hut. Have you gotten much sleep lately?" He was always worried about her. She was twenty; more than old enough to fend for herself. But, he could just never let go. Even now he was worried about her.

Kat giggled knowing that this question would be heard.

"Yes father. I get enough sleep, and I am old enough to be out at time like this don't you think? But I'll go since you seem to worry about me and I don't want you too."

She smiled at him cheerfully and runned to her hut. She was glad she saw him and he was ok, but she wanted him to finally let go of her mother and live his life like he should. With this thoughts she changed into her sleepwear and went to sleep forgetting about dinner that was waiting for her in the small kitchen.

The sun had fallen beneath the horizon some minutes past, and he had yet to catch sight of his destination. The prospect of camping out in the wilderness alone wasn't an appealing one, so Erk hurried his steps.

The last moments of the deep, slumbering grey of dusk fell over him, just as he crested one last hill, and saw the object of his trek. Besaid temple lay below him, clustered among thatched huts and framed by mountains behind. He took it in, just as the last of the lingering light of day's end seeped away into the ensuing night. Then, one by one, the torches held in the ramparts and columns of the monolith before winked into fiery, dancing light, and in the village as well, until the ground before him looked like a scattering of fiery stars strewn across the dirt.

His weary feet urging him on, he descended the last slope before him and entered, unseen, the village proper. His feet carried him like a wraith between the stars of the fire pits and torches, and ascended the stairs of the temple.
